The topic of steroid use in professional baseball has been in question since the 90s.many players have admitted that they have used steroids and it is actually necessary for a baseball player to have them. Many legends of the game have also stated that they themselves were juiced and most of the players right now are juiced as well.
Steroids are to be credited for one’s glorious career. They can win you many prestigious awards. But what about the side effects it carries? There have been many unexpected and unwelcome incidences in the history of baseball that can not be neglected. In 2003, a pitcher died and collapsed while training in the practice camp. After doctor’s counseling it was brought in the lime light that the pitcher used excessive drugs and they played a major role in his death. Sooner the use of these anabolic steroids was completely banned. However, players of the major league still confronted the rule and continued their intake of steroids. Also in mid 1990s, a legend of baseball, Ken Caminiti, told a magazine that he suffered many consequences by using steroids. He was found to have shrunken his testicles and the natural production of testosterone was also stopped completely. The hormonal level was also found to be much lower than normal.
Although, the major leagues have strict rules against the steroids use, but still there seems to be no end to this debate.
